A Community is More Powerful than any Business
Incubator
If you see a large group of people working together and making a profit in America, they’re probably a business.
In business, bosses order people around and make decisions for those with less power.
In business, power dynamics exist that are incompatible with community.
We’ll be a community of equals who makes decisions democratically.
And to prevent an individual or group from having too much power, all power will be temporary.
Right now, we have just one committee: Incubator Committee. It has 6 randomly chosen people taken from Incubator’s mailing list who meet monthly to blind vote on important decisions for Incubator.
They want the opposite things.
At Incubator, we all want the same thing because our interests our tied together through a shared ownership model.
If we do this right, the entire workforce of Incubator will feel ownership over their work. And that’s what makes a community more powerful than any business.
