Learn to make music with less effort

Registration closes Sept. 6

welcome to incubator academy

Hi, I’m Russell (founder of Incubator).

If there’s one thing music comes down to, it’s playing what you want to hear.

Playing for yourself because out of all the musicians in the world, you’d rather listen to yourself than anyone else.

Everyone has something to say and Incubator Academy teaches students how to say it through music in the easiest way possible.

You won’t learn music theory at Incubator Academy. You’ll learn how to play what you want to hear, trust your ear, and write more honest music.

No music experience necessary.

This is a go-at-your-own-pace environment where passing just means showing up.

Classes meet weekly for 3 months starting September 20.

If you want to slow down and be with music in a safe environment while learning to utilize instinct to become the musician you want to be, sign up for the first semester of Incubator Academy.

classes (fall semester '26)

Meets: Mondays 8:00 - 10:30 PM

Starts: Monday, Sept. 21

Instructor: Russell

Description: When you take away percussion and lyrics, every song can be boiled down to a voicing (bass line, melody, harmony 1, and harmony 2).

A voicing is the melodic and harmonic core of a song and carries with it the emotion of the song.

We'll study and create music at the voicings-level, deconstructing songs and learning in the process what makes a good voicing.

Most of this class will be composing voicings and performing them for each other.

Meets: Sundays 7:30 - 10:30 PM

Starts: Sunday, Sept. 20

Instructor: Russell

Description: The best lyrics are in your unconscious mind. This class will teach you to access them and the corresponding melody through improvised vocal performance.

Students will learn and practice a 4 step process: vocalize, transcribe, revise, organize - in an effort to make honest lyrics and melodies they're proud of.

Most of this class will be improvising in front of each other and writing/editing lyrics.
