Incubator House hosts a 7-day residency focused on songwriting, collaboration and performance.
Incubator House is a DIY house venue in Washington D.C. that hosts shows, songwriting events and social events for musicians and music fans.
Every now and then, we invite an out-of-town musician to stay at the house for a week and collaborate with local musicians.
Over the 7 days, you'll get assigned a band, write 3 songs together and perform them at one of our house shows. You'll leave with new friends, new songs and professionally-produced video content of the whole experience.
Included
Although there's plenty of downtime, our residency is a jam-packed week leading up to a 3-song house show performance.
Arrive, settle in and get rested before orientation.
Jam with a variety of different musicians. Feel out who you gel with the most while letting the ideas flow.
Get assigned your bandmates and start arranging your jam ideas into 3 songs.
Later on, get to know local musicians and fans at a casual welcome party.
Take the morning and afternoon off to explore D.C. or recharge at the house.
In the evening, give a workshop to the Incubator community before rehearsing with your band.
Finish the first draft of your songs before testing them out in front of a live at audience at one of our preview shows.
Make any last minute adjustments to the songs and practice one more time with your band before dress rehearsal.
Then enjoy a complementary dinner out on the town with your bandmates and all the other bands.
Rest up until 5 PM when you report for soundcheck. Then perform your 3 songs at a house show!
Expect to jam, practice, perform and record with others around 4 hours a day. The rest of the time can be spent on solo practice or writing, working on lyrics, resting, exploring or hanging out.
