4 Reasons I Love Living at Incubator House

4 Reasons I Love Living at Incubator House
1. There’s always people to hang out with

Whenever I’m lonely, I go downstairs and there’s someone to talk to.

There’s someone there to gab with at lunch and in the mornings

And in the evening, we’re all there

People come for rehearsals, shows, parties.

There’s always something happening here

But there’s also other floors to escape to for peace and quiet

2. There’s always instruments to play

Before living at Incubator House, I never tried to play bass or guitar.

But now I can play what I want to hear on them.

I’m surrounded by instruments and there are countless opportunities to play them, which has made me a better musician.

3. I don’t have to do my least favorite chores

You know those chores
The ones that eat at your soul
Like taking out the trash
Yuck!
I’m not built like that

I will do a lot to avoid doing the trash to the benefit of those who don’t mind doing the trash

Everyone has a chore that suits them and everyone’s content with their responsibilities.

This allows us to be friends, but what really holds us together is…

4. We have a purpose

We host our community’s events. We maintain the place that our friends often gather.

We are responsible for Incubator’s space and equipment.

We’ve successfully created and sustained a third space that is good vibes for almost 2 years.

It’s truly a team effort and it’s something we take pride in.

Closing Thoughts

Living in a community as an adult is a rare privilege in the U.S. (excluding retirement homes and tough jobs like off-shore oil drilling or the military).

It’s even rarer to get to do it with such cool people.

It’s by far the best living situation I’ve had as an adult or maybe ever.

I wish more people could experience this type of living.
