Real Life Breeds Real Art

 Real Life Breeds Real Art
If you’re not living a full life, chances are your art will reflect that.

If you’re not living authentically, chances are your art isn’t going to be authentic.

If you live in a castle having everything taken care of for you, chances are you can’t make art that relates to the common man.

If you don’t live the life of a general audience, you’re making it harder to relate to them and them you.

If you’re not taking real risks, chances are you’re not inspiring people.

More than how much knowledge or motivation you have, how you live your life informs your art.

If your story arc has stagnated, likely so has your art.

Hiding from suffering is hiding from what it might bring out of you

Suffering is a natural part of life.

If you’re trying to avoid suffering altogether, you’re practicing avoidance.

You’re afraid to face something.

And whatever that is is the key to making worthwhile art.

When you act of fear, you’ll be afraid to make what you actually want to make.

When you try to avoid suffering completely, you make your world small and yourself small with it.

When you live in fear, you won’t hear what you truly want to hear.

Your life and your art are intrinsically intertwined so if you want to grow as an artist, grow as a person

It’s not about effort

It doesn’t actually matter. You don’t have to try.

Living authentically isn’t hard. Following your natural path is the easiest thing in the world. Trying to fight it is what’s hard.

Going against the natural tides of life is what makes it truly difficult and unpleasant.

The best thing you can do as an artist is to live authentically, with all the challenges and winding turns included.

The longer you do that, the more effortless life will become and you’ll find art pouring out of you.
