Imagine owning a venue

Imagine having a music venue.

Imagine having any establishment based on a transaction.

I suppose a music transaction is better than most options.

Imagine owning a space where strangers come for a night then leave.

Bands that leave town immediately.

Fans that leave as soon as the music’s over?

Imagine watching people come and go and calling that community.

Different people every night occupying your space (for a fee).

Needing them to get drunk to make your nut.

Imagine having a space without somewhere cushioned to sit.

Without a quiet space to escape to.

Imagine the people working the space are getting minimum wage or close to that. run the space are only in it for the money

What kind of vibe does that create?

Imagine having your community be your customers.

Can you be both?

One is there to purchase, the other is there to live.

Imagine creating a space where the more you give, the less you have.

It’s not hard to imagine because it’s literally everywhere

What’s harder to imagine is a space where people know each other.

Where people grow together.

Where they’re not just there to fulfill one end of a transaction.

A place like that doesn’t have a place in capitalism.

It either exists because of the goodwill of someone with means or it’s not long for this world.

Imagine a space where people share the profit.

Where they work together for a common goal.

That’s the kind of space I want to be in.
